I don't understand how they could have ruined the hotkeys in the first place. I had the same initial adaptation experience but really grew to like it fast, so I would highly recommend giving the new system a chance. I'm talking about the DEFAULT hotkeys that have been the same for. This has nothing to do with player profile and whatnot. Just take the < 15 minutes of your day to remap them. Hot keys are something you don't change by default, you allow the players to change them, dont do it for them. It is known as the GRID system and the positions of the buttons map to the QWERTY, ASDF keys, so it is a much more effective way to play the game and it doesn't take a lot of time to get used to it and a lot of modern RTS games use this system. yea its pretty stupid that all the hotkeys were changed. The new system used by AoF has actually been around for quite awhile. So I had to wait till I was in-game and tried something and it didnt work to look down at the keys and see what I was pressing. In fact, I didnt even KNOW what some of the hotkeys are to reset them.I just do them by reflex lol. In the end, while the newer 'grid' system might be more efficient, it's impossible for me to retrain 15 years of muscle-memory. HD is dead and an abandoned project now, go to voobly they have adapted most of the QoL improvements and rotating gates actually comes from the UP which DE just copied those things from there. I had the same initial adaptation experience but really grew to like it fast, so I would highly recommend giving the new system a chance. How hard could it be to add functions/hotkeys from DE into the 2013HD edition Age of Empires II: DE. In any case, it is a much quicker way to go back with the caveat that you may not have proper hotkeys in AoF once you've set them up. Forgotten Empires uses a grid hotkey system.Īt the top of the file are the original definitions, so all you have to do is remove the bottom set (referenced above) from en-language.txt, and then run the game, go into AoK options to restore your original hotkeys. Hotkeys made on QWERTY keyboard, for some languages (FR?), some keys could be switched to match AZERTY/QWERTZ or other common layouts Shortcut hotkeys overrides - NO LOCALIZATION REQUIRED
